Credentialing Support
Credentialing Support
This package is for SLPs who want to get started accepting insurance or to become a provider with more insurance companies. It works like this:
We start with a questionnaire to review your needs and requirements
Via a 1:1 Zoom consulting session, I walk you through completing the provider enrollment process with your chosen number of insurance companies (these can include Medicare and/or Medicaid). Please note: you complete the process; I answer your questions about it. You are the point of contact for the insurance company. I do not complete any part of the process for you, only WITH you (2, 1-hour video consults)
After you are credentialed, I guide you on a walkthrough of the billing process and provider portal for each company after you are credentialed (2, 1 hour video consults)
You will need a Type 2 (group) NPI and a CAQH Proview account in order to go through the credentialing process. If you do not have a Type 2 NPI or CAQH account, or don’t know what they are, we can talk about it and I can walk you through the process of obtaining them, although this will take up additional time in your consultation package.
Please note the following, as of March 2024:
BCBS- Florida (Florida Blue): plans are closed to new SLP providers (no end date listed)
BCBS- Michigan: you must have a Medicare provider number (PTAN) to enroll
Cigna: currently closed to new California, Florida, Texas and Washington state SLP providers (no end date listed)
Tricare East/Humana Military: (NOT Humana commercial) limited provider enrollment
Tricare West and Tricare East/Humana Military: you must have a physical location in any state in which you would like to see Tricare members (e.g. you cannot provide teletherapy in a state in which you do not have a physical address)
I do not help with credentialing for:
United HealthCare (UHC) in any state or
Aetna in California. They do not pay therapists fairly, and use a third party that they require you as the provider to pay for in order to stay enrolled.
